Internal Solid Wall Insulation
A small porch on the front of a Victorian cottage in Cambridgeshire. Suffering with condensation and mould to the inner surfaces. The solid brick walls were providing poor thermal performance, and so it was decided to install insulation to the inner wall surfaces, in an attempt to warm up this space.
A 25mm insulation board was loosely mounted to the wall surface, before an independent stud wall was constructed over the top. A further 50mm of PIR insulation was installed between the studwork.
Plasterboard linings, skim, and new skirting boards are applied as finishes. A new window cill is required to accommodate the additional thickness of the insulation. End result is a porch with no mould or condensation, that is much warmer through the winter.
